I thought this was a traditional Earl Grey, but when I opened the package, I was taken aback by the scent of spearmint, which was entirely unexpected. This lavender Earl Grey, paired with mint, is a surprisingly effective combination. The spearmint flavor and fragrance were most pronounced, with the lavender and bergamot notes being more subdued. Incorporating a small amount of organic milk enhanced the creaminess of this blend, resulting in a refreshingly unexpected yet satisfying tea.
Marquis de Lafayette could be considered a tea with taste of two worlds, brewed for a hero.
It combines the classic, citrusy elements of Earl Grey with soothing herbal and creamy notes.
Its initial scent is that of a harmonious mix of bright bergamot and soothing lavender, followed by a hint of fresh spearmint.
The multifaceted flavor offers a unique take on a classic Earl Grey.
This blend, with its revolutionary mix of classic and innovative flavors, is a fitting tribute to its namesake.
Upon opening the package, I was immediately greeted by a delightful fusion of spearmint and vanilla. I steeped one teaspoon at 212°F for five minutes, yielding a rich auburn liquor. The spearmint and bergamot present themselves subtly in the background, complemented by a gentle floral whisper of lavender. The vanilla, however, takes center stage—imparting a smooth, creamy mouthfeel with just a touch of astringency that adds balance and invites sip after sip.
I enjoyed this tribute tea. It was an interesting detour from a traditional Earl Grey. I found the vanilla and spearmint helped to round out and mellow the bergamot flavor.
This blend offers a smoother, more complex taste profile, in my opinion. I tended to notice the vanilla first, followed by the lavender and spearmint, then the bergamot with the black tea base. I had this tea straight but could see adding a splash of almond milk to augment the dessert-like characteristics.
This earl grey inspired blend had a unique Lavender and Mint addition that gives an elevated and distinct favor profile that sets itself apart from a traditional Earl Grey. I brewed this blend for 4 mins at 200 degrees and it resulted in a refined earl grey blend that was slightly minty from addition of spearmint but not at all overwhelming. I am not a fan of minty teas generally but this blend was lovely and everything blended very nicely.
I had this vanilla mint Earl grey tea both hot/plain and in cold brew form and loved it in both ways. Vanilla earl greys have been among my favorite teas as of late but have never had a mint flavored one before. I was super impressed with how the mint flavor complemented the rest- the bergamot was the most subtle here. The tea was flavorful but not overpowering and was really refreshing, particularly in cold brew form. It has a touch of dessert flavor but it was naturally sweet.
At first glance, seeing bergamot in the ingredients made me expect something in the Earl Grey family. Instead, this tea takes a fresh direction: creamy vanilla and cooling mint notes come forward, followed by a soft lavender finish. I enjoyed it most with cream, which rounded out the flavors beautifully. As a cold brew, it was smooth and especially refreshing.
